Château Troplong Mondot reopens following major restoration
In the heart of Bordeaux wine country, this stunning estate offers boutique accommodation, a Michelin-starred restaurant, and an exclusive-use 18th-century château.
Located just outside the mediaeval village of Saint-Émilion in Bordeaux, Château Troplong Mondot has recently reopened, revealing the results of a careful restoration project that began in 2017. New accommodation, an 18th-century exclusive-use château, Michelin-starred Les Belles Perdrix restaurant, and a winery all make for an exceptional hospitality experience.
Boutique accommodation The Keys is home to three sprawling suites that are refined yet retain a rustic, countryside feel. The Art Studio on the first floor has two bedrooms and a sitting room, with beautiful views of the park surrounding the château and the village beyond. Edouard is a double bedroom with 19th-century decor, dark panelling, and carmine fabrics, while the Bell Tower bedroom is tucked under the rooftop.
Guests can meet and share their experiences in the communal living area and receive fresh pastries and breakfast each morning, prepared by the resident chef.
For more privacy, the self-contained Vineyard House is nestled among the vines with two bedrooms and a welcoming, home-away-from-home feel.
The Premier Grand Cru Classé wine estate offers a range of tailored experiences that engage guests with their surroundings, including tours of the property in a restored Land Rover, and a Dive to Harvest tour, which sees wine enthusiasts involved in grape picking from different plots, before learning about the fermentation process in the cellar. The village of Saint-Émilion with restaurants, wine tastings, and boutique shopping is a short walk or bicycle ride away.
At the onsite restaurant, Les Belles Perdrix, chef David Charrier creates innovative, fine-dining menus that are served in a minimalist contemporary space. Diners are seated at tables with immersive views of the vines through floor-to-ceiling windows. The restaurant was recognised with a Michelin star in the 2022 Guide, along with a Green Star to acknowledge its sustainability practices.
